Steps for Oracle Apps R12 patching:-

1.      1. Before applying the patch check in database(select bug_id,creation_date,bug_number from ad_bugs where bug_number like )

2.      2. Download the patch

3.      3. Read the read me first and follow the instruction

4.      4. Down the ERP application only down the database also then restart the database

6.      5. Copy the patch in any location in application to Unzip the file (unzip filename)

8.      cd patch_directory_name(like cd 8937374)

9.      6. Unabled maintenance mode  

           7. Type ‘adadmin’

12.  maintenace mode  press 5 then enter
enable mode (1)
return to main menu(3)
exit Ad adminstration(6)

13.  adpatch --enter
log file name(give the log file name like ‘u876378578.log’)

14.  when it’s showing the complete patch of the patch directory Just enter

15.  give drv file name(like ‘u876378578.drv’)

16.  --Disabled maintenance mode--

17.  adadmin

18.  Yes

19.  Enter

20.  No

21.  Enter

22.  Prodc

23.  Yes

24.  system password(like ‘manager’)

25.  apps passwd(like slobodon’)

26.  maintenance mode  press 5 then enter

27.  enable mode (1)

28.  return to main menu(3)

29.  exit Ad administration(6)

30.  Then bring up the services for application
